Job summary

Blue Origin in Reston, VA seeks an experienced Structural Analyst to perform FEA and hand calculations for orbital vehicle structures, collaborating with design teams to optimize weight and strength. You will document analyses for formal drawings and provide guidance balancing risk, cost, and performance. Candidates should have 3+ years of space-structure experience and a B.S.

in engineering. Relocation may be provided; travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required; aerospace/space structures experience preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in vehicle structures or mechanisms analysis.
• Familiarity with classical strength methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Shigley).
• Experience with FEM modeling and design verification for space hardware.

Responsibilities

• Perform FEA and hand calculations for orbital vehicle structures and mechanisms.
• Collaborate with design engineers to optimize weight, strength, and manufacturability.
• Document structural analyses to support release of drawings and documentation.
• Provide technical guidance balancing risk, cost, and performance.
• Maintain schedule, budget, and technical status; support trades and configuration studies.
