You will collaborate with design engineers to optimize weight, strength, and manufacturability, and document analyses to support drawings and formal documentation.

The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering, 3+ years in vehicle structures, and strong FEM knowledge (ABAQUS/HyperWorks). This role requires U.S.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil).
  • 3+ years of experience in vehicle structures or mechanisms analysis.
  • Familiarity with classical strength analysis methods (e.g., Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Shigley).
  • Ability to understand and build free-body diagrams for internal and reaction load derivation.
  • Experience with one or more finite element modeling (FEM) packages (ABAQUS or HyperWorks strongly desired).
  • Strong understanding of FEM modeling techniques, including boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, verification methods, and both elastic and elastoplastic analysis.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculations for strength checks of orbital vehicle structures and mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to optimize structural designs for weight, strength, and manufacturability.
  • Document structural analysis to support the release of engineering drawings and formal documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance on design concepts, balancing risk, cost, and performance.
