Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced structural analyst to perform hand calculations and FEM analyses on aerospace structures for New Glenn production and support. You will document stress analyses, advise on repairs and design concepts, and collaborate with design, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure safe and reliable spaceflight.

The role requires 8+ years in aircraft/spacecraft structures, expertise with CAE tools, and strong communication skills in a demanding, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
  • Experience with analyzing / dispositioning non-conformances.
  • Complete hand calculations including free-body diagrams for internal and reaction load derivation.
  • Bolted joint calculations (bolt preload, joint stiffness, shear-tension interaction, insert pull-out).
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications to achieve optimal structures.
  • Strong experience with classical and aerospace analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Blodgett, Mark’s, Shigley).
  • Vehicle load path and stress analysis of metallic and/or composite structures.

Responsibilities

  • Detailed hand calc and FEM analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures for production support and sustainment initiatives.
  • Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings/documents.
  • Provide technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance).
  • Maintain and report on technical status and cross-organizational collaboration.
  • Participate in subsystem test planning, execution, data reduction, and analysis.
