Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Systems Engineering Intern for its Space Technologies division for a full-time summer internship. The role supports requirements analysis, system modeling, documentation, and verification activities in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

The program runs for 12 weeks onsite, with opportunities to work with advanced space systems and tools like Cameo, Excel, Word, and Python. A relocation/housing stipend may be available, and U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Optical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Ability and willingness to learn new technical concepts, tools, and processes.
• Ability to work full‑time during the summer internship period.
• Due to the nature of this position, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Support requirements analysis, organization, derivation, and traceability.
• Assist with system modeling and Model-Based Systems Engineering activities.
• Support the development and maintenance of technical documentation.
• Assist with verification and validation planning and tracking.
• Support the refinement, documentation, and improvement of Systems Engineering processes.
• Use tools such as Cameo, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Python, and other engineering or process tools as appropriate.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering and other engineering disciplines.
