Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Materials & Processes Engineer to support NASA Johnson Space Center on spaceflight hardware programs. This onsite role focuses on materials selection, process control, corrosion prevention, electrical bonding, and qualification activities for IVA and EVA environments.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 2+ years in M&P, with strong communication skills and a collaborative, cross‑disciplinary approach. U.S.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of experience in Materials and Processes.
• Engineering degree (Metallurgy, Materials Science, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Systems).
• Knowledge of materials and processes for space applications: selection, corrosion prevention, bonding, failure analysis, etc.
• Familiar with metallic and nonmetallic materials specifications and properties.
• Knowledge in engineering drawing review for materials and processes.
• Background across propulsion, crew, life support, thermal, and electronics systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to coordinate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Advise on Materials & Processes requirements for IVA and EVA environments.
• Review hardware, analysis, operation, hazard reviews, and flight acceptance testing.
• Formulate presentations for program boards as needed.
• Implement M&P requirements into hardware design and validation plans.
• Contribute to program specifications ensuring appropriate M&P inclusion.
• Review docs and drawings to ensure M&P compliance for spaceflight hardware.
• Assess vendor processes against requirements and define necessary changes.
