Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a hands-on CNC Machinist & Programmer to support lunar operations at Space Coast, FL. You will review models and drawings, develop machining strategies, and program CAM tools to produce flight‑relevant components.

You will set up and run 3‑axis and 5‑axis machines, perform inspections, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to ensure manufacturability and on‑time delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus relevant technical training, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 5+ years of combined CNC machining and programming experience producing tight‑tolerance hardware.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5 at a working level.
• Working knowledge of CNC programming concepts and the ability to edit and verify G-code as needed.
• Experience holding tolerances to ±0.001 in or tighter where required.
• Proficiency with shop math and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts meeting requirements.
• Create and prove-out Siemens NX CAM programs, including tool selection and cutting parameters for HAAS equipment when applicable.
• Perform setups, documentation, and inspections for repeatability and first article development builds.
• Optimize feeds, speeds, toolpaths, and workholding to improve cycle time and dimensional capability.
• Machine and finish components in aluminum, stainless steels, Inconel, and Monel with disciplined tool-life management.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, height gages, and bore gages.
