Job summary

Blue Origin is hiring for an NC Programmer to develops and modifies machining programs for mills, lathes, and multi-axis systems used on spaceflight components. You will produce accurate programs, setup sheets, and tool lists to enable first article success on high-tolerance parts.

Role requires 2+ years in NC programming and CNC machining with GD&T expertise. Relocation is provided; shift is 6:30am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday, with on-site work at Huntsville facilities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of NC programming experience.
• 2+ years of CNC machining experience.
• Excellent blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
• Tools fixture design.
• Set-up sheet creation.
• Determining initial feeds and speeds.
• Cutter selection and when needed cutter design.
• Design for manufacture experience.
• Excellent communication.
• Must have Nickel based alloys and Aluminum experience.
• Fluent in use of precision hand tools and familiar with personal computers.
• Self-motivated to prioritize work to meet project completion dates.
• US citizenship or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Development of machining strategy to take design data and produce machined hardware.
• Develop manufacturing Mills/Lathes/Multi Axis Mills and Multi Axis Lathes/VTLs.
• Concept manufacturing plans.
• Develop programs.
• Design custom tools and fixtures as needed.
• Develop set-up sheets.
• Communicate with designers and machinists.
• Design for manufacture feedback.
• Make-buy decision support + machine time estimates.
• Process improvement (machining inputs and administrative changes).
• Maintain configuration control on files and job records.
• Safe work practices in an industrial environment.
• Material sizing.
