Job summary

Compass Group USA, on behalf of Flik Independent School Dining, is hiring a full-time Sous Chef at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT 06001. The schedule runs Sunday through Thursday with hours that may vary; previous batch cooking and high-volume production experience is required.

This role partners with the Executive Chef to prepare and cook foods, supervise kitchen staff, ensure food safety, and maintain quality as part of a commitment to nourishing students.

Qualifications

• Previous batch cooking and high-volume production experience required.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Supervises hourly food service associates.
• Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies.
