Job summary

Ascension St. Vincent Fishers Hospital in Fishers, IN is seeking an Ultrasound Technician for a PRN/Rotating role with call rotation. The individual will operate ultrasound equipment, ensure image quality, and maintain department standards.

BLS is required within 30 days, with ARRT/ARDMS/CCI certifications pursued within 24 months. Minimum education includes a high school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience, or an Associate's/Technical degree.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month (30 days) of hire or transfer date.
• Credentials may include CCI Cardiographic Tech, ARRT Radiologic Technologist (Sonography), ARDMS Medical Sonography, CCI Cardiac Sonography, CCI Vascular Sonography, ARDMS Vascular Sonography within 24 months.
• High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
• No work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and adjusts ultrasound equipment and maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
• Implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures.
• Performs routine and complex ultrasound studies and assists in imaging procedures.
• Recognizes structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
• Ensures equipment functions correctly and reports malfunctions; lock/tag out as appropriate.
• Ensures high-quality images and correct patient data are uploaded to PACS.
• Maintains department cleanliness and organization of rooms, storage, dressing areas and film storage.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
• Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
• Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
• Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
• Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
• Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.

What Minimum Requirements You'll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Sonography Tech specializing in Cardiac credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Sonography Tech specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required.
