Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of twelve months training in an accredited Sonography program.
• Clinical competency in abdominal, pelvic and routine vascular exams.
• Knowledge of department, facility and organization policies and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Operate ultrasound equipment for general and vascular studies.
• Differentiate normal vs. pathologic findings.
• Review patient records, orders and requisitions for exam accuracy.
• Position patients and select transducers for accurate imaging.
• Identify and label images with patient info and scan location.
• Enter patient and study information in RIS and document billing codes.
• Identify equipment issues and evaluate new products.
• Communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
• Provide age-appropriate care according to department standards.
