Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Solutions Engineer II to serve as a technical advisor to customers and an ally to sales. You will translate business needs into scalable Akamai-based architectures, run workshops and proofs of concept, and help customers adopt high-performance, secure solutions.

You will work across the Akamai platform, collaborating with Sales, Services, Product Management, and Engineering to deliver measurable outcomes and value for global enterprises.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in customer-facing technology, solutions architecture, engineering, technical consulting, implementation, pre-sales, or a related discipline.
• Solid Internet and cloud fundamentals: DNS, HTTP(S), APIs, networking, modern app architectures.
• Clear communication of complex technical concepts to engineers, leaders, and executives.
• Connect technical solutions to customer priorities, business outcomes, and value.
• Learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and experiment with new approaches.
• Understand AI concepts: LLMs, agents, MCP, RAG, AI gateways, prompt engineering, or AI-assisted development.
• Hands-on with APIs, automation, cloud platforms, observability, infrastructure-as-code, and prototyping.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery to understand customer initiatives, challenges, architectures, and outcomes.
• Partner with sales to develop technical strategies that create opportunities and drive account growth.
• Translate requirements into secure, scalable architectures using the Akamai platform.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
• Lead demonstrations, workshops, solution validations, and proofs of concept.
• Use APIs, automation, AI-assisted technologies, and rapid prototyping to show value.
• Collaborate across Sales, Services, Product Management, and Engineering.
