Archuleta County is seeking a Director of Solid Waste to lead daily operations of landfills, transfer stations, and recycling centers, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient service across all facilities.

Qualifications

Five years of supervisory/administrative experience in a related field.
Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade with equipment operation training and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

Directs daily operations of the landfill, transfer station, and recycling facilities.
Oversees maintenance, compliance, and safety across sites.
Administers budgets, purchasing, and contract management.
Monitors regulatory compliance and reporting to state and federal agencies.
Coordinates with local/regional entities and participates in public outreach programs.
Attends governmental meetings and presents to the Board as needed.
Supervises staffing, training, performance coaching, and evaluations.
