Job summary

The City of Amarillo seeks an experienced operational leader to oversee Solid Waste Collection and Disposal divisions, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient public services with strong customer focus.

Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Solid Waste Superintendent will guide daily operations, budget management, and long-range planning, leveraging a solid background in municipal waste and landfill operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in solid waste operations.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, personnel, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations for Solid Waste Collection and Disposal divisions.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and budgeting for the two divisions.
• Lead long-range operational planning and capital improvement initiatives.
• Develop personnel and foster a safe, compliant workplace.

Skills

Education

TCEQ MSW A License

High School Diploma or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree preferred
