Job summary

The City of Amarillo seeks an experienced Solid Waste Superintendent to lead the Collection and Disposal divisions, ensuring safe, compliant public services and continuous improvement. You will report to the Director of Public Works and guide budgeting, personnel development, and long-range planning with a collaborative, results-driven approach.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in municipal solid waste, landfill operations, and regulatory compliance, with five+ years of supervisory

Qualifications

Minimum five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in solid waste operations.
MSW A License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, personnel, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of both Solid Waste Collection and Disposal divisions.
Ensure regulatory compliance and safety standards across all facilities and activities.
Develop and manage budgets, personnel development, and long-range operational planning.
Lead operational improvements and coordinate with stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
