Job summary

City of Amarillo seeks a proven operational leader to serve as Solid Waste Superintendent, overseeing both Collection and Disposal divisions and reporting to the Director of Public Works.

The role requires extensive municipal solid waste experience, a TCEQ A license, and strong budgeting/people-management skills to maintain compliant, efficient services for Amarillo residents. Salary ranges $100,000–$130,000 DOE/DOQ.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in solid waste operations.
• MSW A License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
• Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, personnel, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Divisions.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and safety across operations.
• Develop budgets and long-range operational plans for the department.
• Lead and develop large operational teams and coordinate with stakeholders.
