Job summary

City of Goldsboro seeks a semiskilled to skilled worker to collect and haul refuse, recycle goods, vegetative debris, furniture and appliances, operating light and heavy solid waste equipment. Primary duties include operating side loaders and grapple trucks, with occasional training on front loaders and trailers, and leading ground crews when assigned.

Work may include weekend shifts or holidays, and duties require strict safety compliance, daily checks, maintenance scheduling, and recording

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operates side loaders and grapple trucks to perform daily responsibilities; may operate rear loaders, leaf vacuum trucks with trailers, front loaders, road tractors and trailers, and roll-off loaders on occasion.
• Serves as crew leader when ground crew staff are assigned to assist.
• Performs daily checks and preventive maintenance requirements, and schedules maintenance and repairs accordingly to ensure equipment remains in good working order.
• Collects various solid waste, including refuse, recycled goods, vegetative debris, white goods, bulk items, etc. and delivers it to the appropriate disposal facility.
• Performs general labor tasks to assist ground crews with picking up limbs, leaves, garbage, recycled goods, white goods, furniture, etc.
• Cleans and sanitizes refuse and recycle collection equipment according to local City and State protocols. Ensures all safety procedures and protocols are in place and used effectively at all times.
