Job summary

Voyager Technologies seeks a Solid Rocket Propulsion Engineer to design and analyze motor components across the product lifecycle. The role is onsite in Reno, Folsom, Long Beach, Huntsville or Remote, with relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

You will perform propulsion analyses, support testing and qualification, and work cross‑functionally to mature designs while balancing performance, cost, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related technical field with 4–15 years propulsion/defense experience
  • Experience in design, analysis, development, testing, or production support of solid rocket motors or closely related aerospace hardware
  • Knowledge of propulsion disciplines: internal ballistics, combustion, thermodynamics, heat transfer, structural analysis, nozzle/grain/case design, propulsion performance analysis
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in engineering docs, presentations, and cross‑functional collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and develop solid rocket motor components from concept through qualification and production
  • Perform analyses on motor performance, combustion, thermal environments, structural integrity, insulation, nozzles and grains
  • Develop requirements, drawings, specifications, test plans, procedures, and reports
  • Support propulsion development and qualification testing including instrumentation, data review, and root‑cause analysis
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, test, systems, program management, and suppliers to mature designs
  • Support design reviews, risk assessments, failure investigations, and configuration changes
  • Apply engineering judgment to balance performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost, schedule, and safety
  • Lead technical work packages or mentor junior engineers as appropriate
