Job summary

Voyager Technologies is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical hardware for aerospace and defense programs. You will create CAD models, drawings, and documentation, and perform structural and thermal analyses, contributing to qualification and production testing.

The role reports to the Engineering Manager and is based in Folsom, Reno, Long Beach, or Huntsville with a hybrid work arrangement. Relocation support may be provided for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field with 4 years of experience OR Master’s degree with 2 years of experience OR 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• 4–10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, aerospace, defense, propulsion, manufacturing, or related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing mechanical hardware, structures, components, assemblies, tooling, or test equipment in a complex engineering environment.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering documentation.
• Working knowledge of structural mechanics, materials, thermal effects, loads, interfaces, and design-for-manufacturability.
• Ability to interpret and develop technical requirements, specifications, drawings, and communicate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience supporting hardware development, integration, testing, manufacturing, or production troubleshooting in aerospace/defense/high-reliability environments.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Security Clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, structures, tooling, and propulsion hardware from concept through production.
• Prepare 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation for motor and aerospace hardware.
• Conduct structural, thermal, stress, fatigue, and vibration analyses per program needs.
• Support testing, qualification, acceptance, and environmental testing of hardware.
• Collaborate with propulsion, systems, manufacturing, quality, and program teams to ensure producibility and reliability.
• Participate in design reviews, requirements reviews, and manufacturing readiness activities.
• Assist manufacturing by resolving issues, evaluating nonconformances, and implementing improvements.
• Apply aerospace engineering practices and design-for-manufacturability to improve performance.
