Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Solar Technician to handle preventive and corrective maintenance for solar PV sites and substations in Virginia, with a focus on safety and reliability.

The role requires hands-on electrical/mechanical skills, familiarity with SCADA/CMMS, and the ability to work in a high-energy, multi-site environment. Travel to sites is expected, and a Technical degree or Solar certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Technical degree or Solar certification (plus).
• Experience in solar system installation (plus).
• Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals.
• Read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assigned O&M activities for solar PV sites and substations.
• Performs with corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance.
• Prepares and implements switching and clearance orders.
• Operates electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
• Writes Plant Orders, Plant Procedures and Operating Instructions.
