Job summary

AES CE, part of The AES Corporation, seeks a Solar Apprentice to support O&M at Charles City, VA solar plants. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PV assets and learn to operate plant systems under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, basic electrical/mechanical knowledge, and a safety‑minded approach. Training and on‑the‑job growth opportunities are provided. Travel and on‑call duties may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Technical degree or Solar certification preferred.
• Experience in solar installation is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Perform/assist with preventive and corrective maintenance on solar PV sites and substations.
• Assist with switching and clearance orders.
• Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
• Write/assist with plant procedures and operating instructions.
