Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to lead estimations and budgets for DER projects and ensure seamless handoffs to construction. The role requires strong collaboration with Project Managers and external partners, maintaining margins and delivering precise scope and cost narratives.

You will develop conceptual estimates, manage bid design requirements, and support risk mitigation while coordinating with engineering and construction teams across projects.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in conceptual estimating large solar/battery storage systems from basic narratives/plans.
• Develop conceptual estimates for projects.
• Manages scope and budget of a portfolio of projects in bid phase through handoff to construction.
• During bid design and estimating phase; manages bid design requirements, budget, risk and opportunities.
• Excellent communication with clients is paramount for success in this position.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers to ensure smooth transitions from preconstruction to construction.
• Protect gross margin potential on all projects and streamline deliverables.
• Create and review scope letters and narratives to cover all work.
• Deliver accurate data for project forecasts and reporting to stakeholders.
