McKinstry in Minneapolis is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to lead the DER division. You will identify and manage proposals with owners and subcontractors, coordinating transitions from development to construction with engineering, development, and construction teams.

Responsibilities include conceptual estimating, budget development, risk management, and ensuring on-time, on-budget project delivery while protecting gross margins. Travel regionally may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in construction-related field.
• 5–7 years of project management, engineering or construction experience required.
• Familiarity with scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, SureTrak).
• Experience with General Contractor or major electrical subcontractor preferred.
• PE/CPM/LEED designations preferred but not required.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; basic estimating skills expected.
• Ability to travel regionally and navigate job sites.

Responsabilités

• Identify, solicit, and manage proposals with owners and subs to enable on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Coordinate smooth transition from development to construction with multiple teams.
• Develop conceptual estimates and manage portfolio scope and budgets during bid phase.
• Prepare accurate bid designs, cost codes, and budgets; monitor risk and opportunities.
• Lead pre-construction planning, schedules, and risk assessments for DER projects.
• Mentor project team members and drive external partnerships with subs and vendors.
