Job summary

McKinstry is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to join our DER division in Dallas, TX. You will identify and manage proposals with project owners and subcontractors, ensuring smooth development-to-construction transitions and maintaining gross margins.

You will develop conceptual estimates, manage bid-phase budgets, and collaborate with engineering and construction teams to deliver successful projects. Travel regionally may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, business, or Engineering or equivalent work experience required.
• Five to seven years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction is required.
• Familiar with scheduling software: Microsoft Project, Primavera and/or Suretrak required.
• Experience working for a General Contractor or Major Electrical Subcontractor preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and required.

Responsibilities

• Identify, soliciting, and managing proposals and relationships with project owners and subcontractors to facilitate successful scope, schedule, and budgeting.
• Coordinate with teams to ensure smooth transition from Development to Construction.
• Develop conceptual estimates for projects and manage scope and budgets in bid phase.
• Manage bid design requirements, budgets, and risks for the project.
• Partner with Project Managers to ensure perfect transition between preconstruction and construction.
• Protect gross margin potential on all projects and support industry/business development activities.
