Job summary

ACT Power Services is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician to perform safe, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on solar PV facilities at customer sites across the United States.

The role supports maintenance tasks on inverters, trackers, and medium-voltage equipment, requires travel and on-call availability, and offers growth through the ACTivate Technician Track under supervision of Field Leadership.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of relevant field experience in solar, electrical, or a related technical/mechanical trade; or ACT Apprentice program (equivalent training)
• QEW sign-off or ability to obtain within onboarding
• OSHA 10 General Industry certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
• Ability to read/interpret drawings (fuses, breakers, switches, power sources, BoS equipment)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to take direction and complete tasks
• Valid Driver's License
• Travel ~20% and on-call during off-shift/weekends
• FAA Part 107, Technical Writing course, and ACT High/Medium Voltage training (in progress)

Responsibilities

• Uphold high safety standards in all tasks
• Assist in preventive maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar facilities (inverter maintenance)
• Perform string-level troubleshooting, tracker inspections, and basic maintenance support
• Conduct vegetation/site equipment inspections, including monthly checks
• Clean or replace damaged components as directed
• Apply NEC knowledge and industry best practices; continue education
• Perform basic electrical testing (IR, continuity, grounding, voltage) under supervision
• Dispatch and remediation on repairs under 50V
• Maintain company property and inventory; log data into Fiix, TrueContext, Deputy, and ACT SharePoint
• Conduct and log vehicle inspections on time
• Initiate warranty claims with vendors/OEMs as needed
• Identify safety hazards and mitigate risks
• Conduct pre-job brief analyses
• Participate in Good Catch Program and BBSO observations
• Attend maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical writing training
