Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is hiring a Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Civil Engineering Technician to support multidisciplinary teams on utility-scale renewable projects. You will assist with site plans, grading designs, and utility layouts using CAD, Civil 3D, PVcase, and PVFarm.

Under supervision, you will perform technical civil design tasks, contribute to delivering high-quality engineering deliverables, and collaborate within a team of professionals on civil infrastructure

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate required.
• Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports engineering teams under general supervision.
• Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
• Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling).
• Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables.
• Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians.
• Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures.
• Apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives.
• Use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures.
• Create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs.
• Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.
• Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences.
• Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers.
• Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes.
