We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer specializing in Healthcare Integrations to
join our core engineering team. In this role, you will architect, build, and maintain the critical data pipelines
connecting our platform with complex Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, health information exchanges,
and national networks.
The ideal candidate possesses deep domain expertise in healthcare interoperability standards, hands-on
experience navigating the nuances of legacy systems, and an understanding of modern, federated data
sharing frameworks. You will bridge the gap between traditional clinical data ecosystems and contemporary
cloud-native APIs, ensuring highly secure, reliable, and compliant exchange of patient data.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- EHR Integration Delivery: Design, develop, and deploy scalable integrations with major EHR vendors
customized communication middleware.
- Interoperability Pipeline Architecture: Build robust data transformation engines to parse, map, and translate data across multiple formats, maintaining strict data integrity and clinical accuracy between custom payloads and standardized schemas.
- National Network Engagement: Stay at the forefront of US healthcare infrastructure by implementing data sharing frameworks compliant with QHIN (Qualified Health Information Networks) and the TEFCA (Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement) architecture.
- Security & Compliance Implementation: Ensure all data ingestion, transit, and storage mechanisms strictly adhere to HIPAA regulations, SOC 2 protocols, and NIST standards.
Implement secure authorization and authentication frameworks across modern endpoints.
- Monitoring & Operations: Implement extensive logging, proactive alerting, and error-handling protocols for high-throughput health data pipelines to guarantee high availability and meet demanding Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Required Core Competencies & Protocols:
- HL7 Frameworks: Extensive experience working with HL7 v2.x (ADT, ORU, MDM messages) and parsing/generating complex clinical payloads.
- FHIR & SMART: Deep understanding of HL7 FHIR (STU3/R4), including the creation of profiles, extensions, implementation guides, and securing endpoints using SMART on FHIR (OAuth2 and OpenID Connect profiles).
- National Frameworks: Working knowledge of or direct exposure to TEFCA governance, QHIN technical exchange frameworks, and associated networks (e.g., CommonWell, Carequality).
- Integration Tools: Direct experience managing interface engines or enterprise integration patterns (e.g., Mirth Connect/NextGen Connect, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or cloud-native equivalents like AWS HealthLake / Azure API for FHIR).
- Development Stack: Proficiency in at least one major backend language (Python, Node.js, Java, C#, or Go) alongside experience utilizing relational (PostgreSQL) and non-relational database structures.
