Job summary

Compunnel, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and scale high-performance APIs and integration services for healthcare platforms, with a focus on FHIR standards.

The role requires deep expertise in Java 11+, Spring Boot, AWS, and HIPAA-compliant data handling. You will build RESTful services, work with Docker/Kubernetes, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines within an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java 11+ and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with AWS ECS and Fargate.
• Strong understanding of HL7 FHIR resources and interoperability.
• Experience with healthcare integration engines and HIPAA/security posture.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (JUnit, Mockito).
• Experience with Terraform and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy robust backend services and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Implement and manage FHIR-based APIs and data pipelines for interoperability.
• Design, document, and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize on AWS services (ECS, Fargate, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway).
• Use Terraform for infrastructure as code and cloud automation.
• Ensure healthcare data security and privacy per HIPAA requirements.
• Collaborate with product, clinical stakeholders, frontend teams, and data engineers.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code and participate in code reviews.
