Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead 10-15 application software engineers in the San Diego area. You will coordinate staffing, performance reviews, and promotions while performing hands-on software work for CNS programs.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, staff development, and process improvement within a Defense-focused environment. On-site work in San Diego, CA is required, with a Secret clearance and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• BS + 5 years of exp in related STEM field; MS + 3 years of exp.
• Excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, and be able to work independently and within groups.
• Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
• Proficiency in software development, Object Oriented programming, and software lifecycle processes.
• Familiarity with other engineering disciplines including manufacturing, test, systems, quality, and electrical.
• Must have an active Secret Clearance
• Candidate must be able to work on site at the facility

Responsibilities

• Lead a section of approximately 10-15 application software engineers in the San Diego E&S SWDT department.
• Coordinate staffing, recruiting, training, and delivering performance reviews to employees.
• Evaluate/suggest promotions and salary adjustments with HR.
• Provide career guidance and counseling on performance.
• Be a technical performer, spending ~80% on programs.
• Foster an inclusive, engaging workplace and maintain work-life balance.
• Support software engineering processes and enterprise review cycles.
