Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Manager in San Diego, CA. You will lead a section of 10–15 software engineers within the San Diego E&S Software and Digital Technologies group, guiding staffing, performance reviews, and career development while aligning with program goals.

This role requires a BS + 5 years in a related STEM field (MS + 3 years preferred), strong C/C++ and OO skills, excellent communication, and an active Secret Clearance.

Qualifications

• BS + 5 years in a related STEM field; MS + 3 years of exp.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Object Oriented programming, and software lifecycle processes.
• Excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills; able to work independently and within groups.
• Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
• Must have an active Secret Clearance
• Must be able to work on site full-time at the Rancho Carmel facility.

Responsibilities

• Lead a section of approximately 10–15 software engineers within the San Diego E&S Software and Digital Technologies department.
• Direct report management: staffing, performance reviews, promotions, salary considerations, and HR coordination.
• Technical contributor (~80%): work on programs involving communications systems within FNS and ACN OUs.
• Support creation and maintenance of software engineering processes.
