Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in the United States is seeking a Software Engineering Leader to coach data engineering teams and shape data platforms, pipelines, and ML/AI solutions. The role emphasizes Lean, agile, and DevSecOps practices across DataOps and MLOps to deliver secure, trusted data as a shared enterprise asset.

You will partner with data governance, architecture, and analytics to strengthen engineering maturity, drive automation, and enable scalable, governed data solutions

Qualifications

• Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field are strongly preferred.
• Certifications such as Certified Scrum Master, Certified Agile Leader, AWS Practitioner or related certifications encouraged but not required.
• Experience: Six or more years of technology engineering experience; three or more years of management experience preferred.
• Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proven track record leading teams in a matrixed environment; vendor management; insurance/financial services knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead agile technology teams across software delivery and data platforms.
• Coach on Lean practices, agile, and DevSecOps principles, tools, and techniques.
• Drive automation-first strategies, data quality, observability, and secure-by-design practices.
• Partner with data governance, architecture, and analytics stakeholders to mature engineering capabilities.
• Manage and develop engineering teams, including performance, salary administration, training and hiring.
