Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Software Engineer - SRE to build and run reliable distributed systems across store technology, POS, and edge devices. You will implement observability, improve alerting, respond to incidents, and automate reliability programs across hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.

You will contribute to runbooks, participate in postmortems, and develop skills in SRE patterns, fleet-scale deployments, and cloud-native tooling while aligning with business goals and patient impact.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, platform engineering, or related technology roles with production systems responsibility
• 2+ years delivering software in large-scale distributed environments with reliability concepts
• 1+ year of experience with at least one production-quality programming language (Python, Go, Bash, or Java)

Responsibilities

• Implement alerting and dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Jaeger, and OpenTelemetry to provide visibility into distributed retail and pharmacy systems
• Build and maintain service dashboards covering availability, latency, error rate, and saturation anchored to CUJ outcomes
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident management with timely runbook execution
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and Helm; apply GitOps practices
