Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Software Engineer - SRE to help build and run reliable distributed systems across store and edge environments. You will implement observability, improve alerting quality, respond to incidents, write automation, and contribute to reliability programs that span the organization.

The role emphasizes automation, postmortem learning, and reducing toil, with on-call responsibilities and a path toward autonomous ownership in a transforming environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, platform engineering, or related technology roles with production systems responsibility.
• 2+ years delivering software in large-scale distributed environments with hands-on reliability concepts.
• 1+ year of production-quality programming in Python, Go, Bash, or Java.
• 1+ year of cloud platform experience: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or Dynatrace.

Responsibilities

• Implement alerting and dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Jaeger, and OpenTelemetry for visibility into distributed systems.
• Write unit and integration tests for SRE tooling and automation scripts.
• Follow and improve operational runbooks; identify gaps and ambiguities for remediation.
• Support performance testing and reliability audits under SSE direction; develop hands-on methodology.
• Build familiarity with edge computing fleet, Kubernetes clusters, store servers, and related infrastructure.
