Job summary

Alaska Airlines is offering a summer 2027 internship located in SeaTac, WA. The 12-week, full-time program requires relocation if not already in SeaTac and provides hands-on software development experience with visible projects benefiting guests and the business.

Interns will work on developing simple applications, maintaining documentation, and supporting production systems while networking with employees and leaders across Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the internship.
• Must have achieved a junior or higher academic standing at the time of application.
• Experience with software engineering.
• High degree of initiative, flexibility and the ability to multi-task.
• Can-do attitude and passion to solve complex problems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Receive, understand and clarify requirements from software development.
• Develop simple applications as directed, incorporating common services as appropriate.
• Continually seek to improve applications, including system performance, functionality, code efficiency and code defects.
• Maintain appropriate system documentation throughout the application life cycle, including design, development, test, support, change release and implementation documentation.
• Provide application support, including developing and implementing production application monitors, timely problem identification and resolution.
• Stay actively engaged in the technology industry and understand how evolving technologies can benefit our organization.
• Other duties as assigned.
