Job summary

Slate Auto in the United States is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to design, build, and ship features for our direct-to-consumer EV platform. You’ll collaborate with product, UX, and senior engineers to deliver customer-facing software that connects drivers with their Slate vehicle, from discovery to ownership.

You’ll code, test, review, and own quality with independent problem solving, while shaping the architecture in a fast-moving, inclusive team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience building and shipping features in customer-facing software systems.
• Knowledge of web services and APIs; testing and code review practices.
• Ability to work independently and solve varied problems.
• Experience consuming or integrating third-party APIs.
• Experience with ecommerce or marketplace systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver features independently with minimal direction.
• Code, test, and participate in reviews.
• Own quality of shipped software with unit and functional tests.
• Solve problems creatively, weighing factors and choosing methods.
• Work with UX and product teams to understand customer needs.
• Maintain deep understanding of your area and make solid decisions.
• Take direction on new assignments and seek input for large trade-offs.
• Share knowledge and help teammates get up to speed.
