Job summary

Pleasant Mountain in Bridgton, ME is seeking enthusiastic snowsports instructors to guide guests through skiing and snowboarding. You’ll help guests learn safety, build confidence and have fun on the mountain.

The role begins in December and runs through March, with most shifts on weekends and during holidays. Applicants should be at least 16 years old, comfortable on blue terrain, and enjoy teaching others.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• Comfortable skiing/riding on blue terrain.
• Strong communication and desire to teach others.
• Willingness to work with children and adults of various ages.
• Weekend/holiday availability strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach skiing and/or snowboarding to guests of all ages.
• Instruct guests on safety standards and mountain operations.
• Create and maintain a safe, fun learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with adult learners and parents.
• Maintain passion for snowsports and outdoor experiences.
• Work outside in winter weather conditions.
• Represent Pleasant Mountain to guests and assist them on the mountain.

Overview

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to work outside and share their passion for skiing or snowboarding! Snowsports Instructors are the face of Pleasant Mountain. As part of our front-line team, you will be guiding our guests through their first days of skiing and snowboarding. A love of the outdoors and the drive to continually improve both personal skiing and/or riding skills, and teaching ability is important. Must be willing to work with children, energetic, outgoing, and able to interact with guests in a friendly and fun manner.

Our program starts the beginning of December and runs through to the end of March. Most groups meet on weekends and holiday weeks, but some mid-week lesson shifts are available as well.

Responsibilities

• Teach skiing and/or snowboarding to guests of all ages.
• Instruct guests on safety standards and how to respectfully operate on the mountain.
• Create and maintain a safe, fun learning environment.
• Have extremely strong communication skills. Be able to effectively communicate with adult learners as well as with children and their parents.
• Maintain a passion for snowsports and have a desire to instill a love of the outdoors in our guests.
• Be able to work outside in all types of winter weather conditions.
• Represent Pleasant Mountain to the public, including, but not limited to: greeting guests, assisting guests as they navigate our mountain, providing answers to general questions about mountain operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Intermediate skiing/riding ability (or above). Instructors should be comfortable on blue terrain.
• Strong communication skills and desire to teach others are a must.
• Willingness to work with children and adults of various ages, experiences, and athletic abilities.
• Weekend, holiday, and/or school vacation availability strongly preferred.
