Job summary

Pmb Vllc in Kentucky invites applications for a Seasonal Snowsports Instructor. You will provide group and individual instruction to guests, supervise candidate instructors, and support grooming and teaching area setup.

Responsibilities include teaching, leading clinics, maintaining lesson records, promoting safety, delivering friendly service, and collaborating with all departments to create a positive guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Certification or completed instructor clinics required.
  • Minimum two years of advanced teaching and skiing/snowboarding experience.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Advanced skiing/snowboarding ability required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliability and willingness to participate in clinics.

Description

Supervisor: Snowsports School Director

Department: Snowsports School

Type: Fall-Spring, Varying Hours / Seasonal

Position Overview: Provide group and individual Instruction to guests.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Candidate Instructors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Train and teach Candidate Instructors as needed.
  • Teach lessons and/or lead clinic groups on assigned days or upon request by supervisors.
  • Assist in running grooming, i.e. ski/boot packing, clearing of windfall, teaching area set up and take down, etc.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of current trends in Snowsports instruction from PSIA/AASI, teaching/learning principles, equipment understanding, and methods for education in skillful, safe and fun skiing/riding.
  • Assist the Ski Patrol in rescue operations in the event of avalanche, lost skiers, chair lift failure, and accidents when requested.
  • Assist in running grooming, i.e. ski/boot packing, clearing of windfall, teaching area set up and take down, etc.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate lesson records and other information as needed.
  • Promote safe skiing/riding for safety.
  • Provide an engaging customer experience through friendly and efficient service.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform the job and get along with others.
  • Work together with all departments to build a positive working environment.
  • Show up to work on time, consistent attendance, and dependable.
  • Physically perform the essential job functions of this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Factors:

  • Continuous interaction with guests and Resort staff.
  • Ability to work outside in ANY AND ALL weather conditions constantly.
  • Walking, bending, rotating, standing, skiing, and snowboarding constantly.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Repetitive use of hands, arms, shoulders, back, and legs constantly.
  • Lifting to waist level of 40 lbs. infrequently, above shoulder lifting and / or carrying of up to 10 lbs. frequently.
  • Sight and hearing of acceptable standards for Essential Job Functions.
  • The working environment may be stressful when meeting staff and guest demands.
  • Frequently walking on uneven, steep, and slippery terrain with job site hazards.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced ski or snowboard ability.
  • Knowledge of Resort products and runs and able to give directions to their locations.
  • Willingness to voluntarily participate in educational clinics to improve personal skiing/riding skills and understanding of the fundamental skills.

  • Ability to relate in a positive manner to guests and co-workers.

Education / Experience:

  • Certification: Prior teaching experience or successful completion of new instructor clinics.
  • Minimum two years of advanced intermediate teaching and skiing or snowboarding experience.
  • Background check.
