Job summary

Big Rock Ski Area in Maine is seeking a part-time Snow School Director to lead and grow our instructional programs. This hands-on leadership role oversees daily operations, supervises instructors, schedules lessons, trains staff, and ensures a high-quality guest experience.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of ski/snowboard instruction, leadership experience, and PSIA-AASI certification or equivalent. Weekend and holiday availability is required, with a focus on safety and inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of ski/snowboard instruction experience.
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• PSIA-AASI certification or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with children, families, and adult learners.
• Ability to train and mentor instructors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Snow School operations for youth and adults.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate instructors.
• Develop and maintain instructor schedules based on demand.
• Lead instructor training and professional development.
• Maintain high standards of lesson quality, safety, and guest service.
• Teach lessons as needed and stay actively involved.
• Coordinate lesson programs, youth programs, and events.
• Serve as intermediary for Ski4Life and program coordinators.
• Collaborate with marketing to promote programs.
• Communicate with guests on scheduling and expectations.
• Maintain instructor records, certifications, and schedules.
• Develop new programs and improve existing ones.
• Participate in preseason planning and year-end review.
• Be available weekends, holidays, and peak periods.
