Job summary

StockX in Detroit is seeking a Sneakers Category Manager to own end-to-end growth for sneakers within a new high-priority commerce initiative. You will be the in-house authority on sneaker culture, economics, and moments, translating insight into supply growth, engagement, and GMV.

You will recruit flagship sellers, build a go-to-market playbook, collaborate with product and marketing, and shape category moments that drive activation and revenue across the platform.

Qualifications

• Deeply embedded in sneaker culture with ecosystem connections.
• 5+ years in category management, partnerships, marketplace growth, or brand/operator roles in sneakers or streetwear.
• Comfortable owning outcomes, not just strategy — you execute, iterate, and adapt.
• Strong relationship builder with credibility among sellers, creators, and community members.
• Data-literate and commercially minded — you understand pricing, margins, liquidity, and incentives.
• Entrepreneurial, scrappy, and energized by building something from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the growth strategy for sneakers within the platform.
• Own category-level performance across supply, engagement, and revenue.
• Establish quarterly goals, leading indicators, and operating rhythms.
• Maintain deep knowledge of sneaker culture, including sellers, creators, and markets.
• Serve as the internal voice of the sneaker community, informing product and marketing decisions.
• Build and own a pipeline of sneaker sellers, shops, influencers, and creators.
• Recruit flagship sellers who set the tone for the platform.
• Develop seller strategies balancing credibility, storytelling, and commerce.
• Identify sneaker-specific moments, campaigns, and formats that drive engagement and conversion.
• Partner with Category Marketing to design authentic activations.
• Experiment with new approaches and iterate based on performance.
• Work with Account & Partnerships to scale seller acquisition and support.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to shape features and tools for sellers/buyers.
• Document learnings and define what great category ownership looks like.
• Help hire and onboard as the sneaker category team grows.
