Job summary

State of South Carolina in York County seeks an ES Eligibility Specialist to administer SNAP-related programs, determine eligibility, and process renewals. You will maintain confidential client records and support program integrity in a county office.

The role requires a high school diploma with clerical/administrative experience; an associate degree is preferred. Travel and field assignments may be required, with access to ongoing benefits and training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate Degree or higher may substitute for required program experience.
• Relevant clerical/administrative or social services experience preferred.
• Ability to follow policies and handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Provides SNAP, ESAP, SCCAP services following federal/state laws and agency policies.
• Conducts 7-9 quality interviews daily via phone or in-person for SNAP and related programs.
• Processes applications/recertifications, determines eligibility, and authorizes benefits as applicable.
• Maintains case records in agency systems and documents client activities for eligibility.
• Identifies overpayments, prepares supporting documents for hearings, and attends hearings as directed.
• Participates in required trainings and staff meetings.
• Ensures protection of PII and agency networks; handles emergency shelter duties as directed.
• Performs other related duties as required.
