Job summary

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA is seeking an SMT Field Service Engineer to provide field-based support across the Midwest to Northeast. You will install, maintain, and repair S.M.T.

equipment at customer facilities in the United States and internationally, covering diverse subsystems and software tasks. The role demands strong electronics knowledge, hands-on SMT experience, and travel 60–80%, with opportunities to collaborate with engineering and sales teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2-year technical degree in Electronics, Electromechanical Systems, or related field preferred; 5 years SMT experience may substitute for education.
• 3+ years of SMT experience, including hands-on programming and operation of pick-and-place equipment.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Aptitude in electronics, mechanical systems, and computer technology.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop long-term solutions at customer sites.
• Ability to read schematics and use test equipment; perform electrical calculations.

Responsibilities

• Provide phone, email, and onsite support to YMUS Robotics distributors and direct customers.
• Support installation, warranty service, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Communicate with factory engineering to improve products and eliminate recurring issues.
• Notify management of customer issues affecting relationships.
• Coordinate with Sales on future opportunities at customer sites.
• Document technical issues clearly for engineering and support teams.
• Track issues to ensure timely resolution and inform training material development.
• Act as SME for internal and external customers.
• Support customer demonstrations at YMUS Robotics.
• Set up and remove equipment from demonstration facilities.
