Job summary

SMA America, the U.S. subsidiary of SMA Solar Technology AG, is seeking a Field Service Engineer for the Midwest region.

This role covers testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of SMA Medium Voltage systems in the field with regional travel and a company truck provided. We offer a three-level technical career path, certification training sponsorship, inverter training, and strong focus on safety, customer satisfaction, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• At least one year of hands on experience in an electrical, electronic, utility, or field service role.
• Exposure to medium voltage equipment such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, terminations, or substation work.
• An associate degree in electrical or electronic technology or equivalent trade training.
• Comfort with electronic test equipment and ability to read prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to travel regionally and meet site requirements, including nonstandard hours.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting SMA insurance requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Performs testing, inspection, maintenance, and repair of SMA Medium Voltage systems in the field.
• Completes accurate field service reports and documentation for site activities.
• Serves as on-site point of contact and collaborates with customers and teams.
