Job summary

GE Aerospace in Lafayette, IN seeks a Safety Management System Leader to coordinate with site leaders in developing and maintaining an SMS for the Lafayette Engine Facility. You will drive proactive risk management, safety culture, and regulatory compliance, partnering with cross-functional teams to improve product safety performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent QA experience in manufacturing or aerospace.
• Minimum of 3 years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
• Experience with Safety Management Systems and product safety regulations.
• Strong communication and collaboration across levels including leadership, regulatory reps, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead SMS implementation aligned with enterprise SMS team and industry best practices.
• Facilitate SRM with SAT/SRB.
• Prepare and submit safety performance reports to SMS delegates and boards.
• Conduct site safety audits and inspections to ensure SMS compliance.
• Support product safety risk management within change initiatives.
• Provide SMS training and promote product safety culture across all site levels.
• Collaborate with other sites to share lessons learned and address systemic issues.
• Track safety performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
• Implement FLIGHT DECK standards and standard work across teams to standardize processes.
