Job summary

W. Lee Flowers in Hickory, NC is seeking a friendly, energetic Smokehouse team member to deliver engaging guest experiences and lead with story-selling of fresh samples.

You will assist in meat department prep, cutting, stocking and sanitation while following Lowes Foods standards and food safety guidelines. This role involves direct guest interaction and occasional front-of-house performances.

Qualifications

• Friendly, energetic and outgoing personality.
• Must actively engage guests and be willing to have fun with our guests.
• Willingness to perform in front of large crowd and draw attention to the Smokehouse department.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks, simultaneously.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. consistently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Previous meat cutting/trimming experience.
• Previous Culinary knowledge and/or background preferred.
• Ability to read and understand information and direction.
• Knowledge of Deli as well as meat department operations.
• Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to effectively communicate with, and take direction from supervision.
• Ability to work well with computers.

Responsibilities

• Provides fun, friendly and engaging service
• Actively engage guests through Smokehouse samples and story-selling
• Perform activities outlined in the Pit Master character performance description
• Operate the department according to strict merchandising and operational standards
• Ensure the quality of product for sale meets Lowes Foods standards
• Maintain sanitation and safety throughout the department according to Lowes Foods standards
• Perform product preparation, receiving, ordering, stocking and guest service as necessary to achieve standards
• Maintain HACCP required product information log sheets as necessary
• Perform light meat cutting duties as needed
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management
• Perform PA announcements
