Job summary

Siemens Laurel is offering a Smart Building internship program designed to develop hands-on skills in HVAC controls and building automation. Interns will gain practical field experience on job sites with seasoned technicians, learn how to install, program, and service advanced building systems in commercial environments.

You will rotate through service, project operations, and sales exposure while collaborating with engineering and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed a 2-year technical program in HVAC/Building Automation or related field.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for 10 weeks (May–July or June–August).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Willingness to work onsite in Laurel, MD and surrounding area.

Responsibilities

• 80% Field Technician Experience: on-site with Siemens technicians, learning installation, programming, and servicing HVAC automation in commercial buildings.
• 10% Sales Exposure: learn how Siemens designs solutions with customers to improve building performance.
• 10% Project & Service Operations: rotate with service and project delivery teams, supporting installations and maintenance.
• Assist in diagnosing issues and performing maintenance or new installations and system commissioning.
• Collaborate with engineering and project management to resolve discrepancies in drawings or address challenges.
• Interface with customers to document service activities, explain system operations, and provide basic training.
