Job summary

Siemens Smart Building Internship Program in Plymouth, MI seeks Interns to gain hands-on experience in HVAC controls and building automation. You’ll spend ~80% on site with technicians, 10% in sales exposure, and 10% in project/service operations, learning troubleshooting and installation.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and practical problem solving, with opportunities to interact with customers and engineering teams. Paid hourly internship with 401K eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or state-recognized GED.
• Enrolled in or recently completed a 2-year technical college pursuing HVAC/Building Automation or related field.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for 10 weeks (May–July or June–August).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Comfortable in rooftops, mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, indoors or outdoors.
• Hands-on role requiring hand tools, laptops, tablets and other tech.
• Physically able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Team player with good communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Spend most of your time on job sites with experienced Siemens technicians learning installation, programming, and service of HVAC and building automation systems.
• Spend time with the sales team to understand how solutions are designed for customers.
• Rotate through service and project delivery teams to support installation and long-term maintenance.
• Visit customer sites to troubleshoot HVAC and control systems and assist in commissioning.
• Collaborate with engineering and project management to resolve discrepancies in drawings.
• Document service activities and provide basic training for smooth hand-off to customers.
