Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks an experienced Building Controls Engineer to design, configure, and operate complete building control systems including fire and security subsystems.

You will develop software programs, provide submittals to customers and field teams, and ensure proper operation of building control networks while coordinating with subcontractors and vendors. Travel is required for this role.

Qualifications

• Associate or technical degree with at least five years of HVAC building automation experience.
• Experience with HVAC BAS, DDC controls and networking concepts.
• Knowledge of control theory and building subsystems from design to commissioning.
• Experience integrating low-voltage building subsystems using industry protocols.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s in engineering or 10+ years in building controls; Metasys experience.

Responsibilities

• Designs, configures and operates building control systems including fire and security subsystems.
• Develops software programs and commissioning for proper operation.
• Provides submittals to communicate design and operation to customers and field teams.
• Coordinates drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
• Orders and tracks materials for assigned projects.
• Coordinates factory-mounting and scheduling for projects.
• Assists in loading and commissioning of controllers.
• Validates complete system functionality and resolves issues with trades.
• Provides field change information for as-built drawings and software.
• Keeps stakeholders informed of progress and issues.
• Performs site-specific training for owner/operator.
• Participates in release meetings and value engineering.
• May provide work directions to Design Assistants.
• Adheres to safety standards; travel is required.
