Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an Accounting Specialist for Block Advisors to maintain accurate financial records for our clients. You will document transactions, prepare reports, and assist in compliance with financial regulations, including bookkeeping, payroll, and tax-related data entry.

You will partner with Tax Advisors and Account Managers to deliver services, generate financial statements, and support growth opportunities while ensuring high-quality client service across multiple engagements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.
• National Bookkeeper and Payroll certifications or ability to obtain them.
• Microsoft Office experience: Word, Excel, and Open Office.
• Ability to multi-task across multiple windows and tools.
• Familiarity with bookkeeping software, databases, and automation.
• Analytical and detail oriented with strong communication.
• Client services experience and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to interpret complex instructions and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Enter financial information into accounting systems while complying with reporting requirements.
• Handle data entry, bank reconciliations, and payroll management.
• Assist Tax Advisors with tax return data entry and uploading returns.
• Perform account reconciliations and categorize transactions; compile monthly/quarterly reports.
• Address client accounting irregularities with excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with Account Managers and Tax Advisors to support services.
• Prepare financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors, and banking contacts to ensure service delivery.
• Assist in growth opportunities and retention through referrals and partnerships.
