Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support small business clients with bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting. You will work closely with Account Managers and Tax Advisors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and growth opportunities through referrals.

Responsibilities include bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and assisting with tax data entry. Strong multi-tasking and client service skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of double-entry accounting experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.
• National Bookkeeper and Payroll certifications or ability to obtain.
• MS Office experience and familiarity with bookkeeping software.
• Analytical, detail oriented, and able to multi-task.
• Strong client services and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and record financial transactions using double-entry bookkeeping.
• Maintain data entry, account maintenance and transaction categorization.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations for accuracy.
• Process payroll and provide payroll support for clients.
• Prepare financial statements including balance sheets and cash flow.
• Generate monthly and quarterly client reports for decision-making.
• Assist Tax Advisors with tax data entry and returns uploading.
• Identify discrepancies and address them with excellent service.
• Collaborate with Account Managers and Tax Advisors to support client needs.
• Communicate with clients, vendors and banking contacts to ensure delivery.
