Job summary

H&R Block is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver precise bookkeeping, payroll and client service, supporting our mission to provide help and inspire confidence in clients and communities.

You will post financial transactions, reconcile ledgers, generate statements, process payroll, and prepare 1099s and W-2s, while communicating with clients, vendors and banking contacts to foster growth and retention.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• National bookkeeping and payroll certifications, or ability to obtain.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and standard procedures.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and growth opportunities.
