Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC is hiring a Slitter Operator to set up and run a slitter per customer specifications, inspect material, and ensure dimensions meet production instructions. You will thread coils, monitor gauges, and adjust setups to correct defects while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.

The role includes measuring various properties, coordinating with maintenance, and keeping detailed records, with opportunities for bonuses and benefits after probation.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform complete setup and operational tasks of slitting to ensure compliance with customer specifications and production requirements.
• Ability to use tape measures, Rockwell tester, micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a slitter according to customer specifications and work orders.
• Inspect equipment and measure dimensions to ensure conformity with production instructions.
• Thread coil through slitter head and recoiler; crop non-conforming material.
• Maintain production and quality standards by measuring gauge width, hardness, camber, burr and surface condition.
• Set and monitor gauge systems; calibrate as needed; adjust setup to correct defects during slitting.
• Communicate non-compliance to supervisor or shift lead; assist maintenance with issues and preventive maintenance.
• Clean slitter and surrounding area; remove scrap; load/unload as required.
